Farewell Ride with Michelle Schaefer:

Michelle and Steve Schaefer will be moving out of the area in July.  Michelle currently serves on the PMBA Board and does a fantastic job on the Outreach committee.  We thought it would be nice to ride with Michelle on 396, since that is her favorite trail.  Join us at 6pm at the White Spar Campground to bid farewell to Michelle.

July happenings

The 124th Annual Prescott Rodeo

PMBA was asked once again to help out with the rodeo.  WE NEED 25 VOLUNTEERS to serve the drinks at all of the stations to rodeo fans. If you can spare some time on the 4th of July from 11:00 AM until approximately 5:00 PM, we would greatly appreciate it.   Last year we were able to raise $600 for PMBA and everyone that volunteered had a great time.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email pmba@prescottmtb.com.

Saturday, July 16th

Technical Riding skills class

Come join Chris Hosking on the newest section of the Dells trail network… Constellation.  Chris will share his mastery of bicycle handling and control for those looking to learn how to tackle rocks, ledges, corners and various other technical obstacles.  Please park at the Phippen museum.  Meeting time is set for 5:30 PM.

Saturday, July 23rd

Trail work day

Please check the website calendar for the time and place as the day gets closer, but the continuation of the Circle Trail near Quartz Rock will most likely be where the work will occur.  There is only one mile left to complete this section.  Please come out and lets get it done!

Saturday, July 30th

Kid’s group ride

This is for all the little mountain bikers out there.  PMBA wants them to feel the love too! The family is welcome, but the ride will be catered to the little ones pace and skill levels.  We will ride at Brownlow-Pioneer Park starting at 8:30 AM.  The plan is to have some single track, double track, hills and flats. A little for everyone and every ability.   Before the ride we will touch on some riding skills and safety practices.

August will be scheduled soon, but PMBA will be planning to have family night rides as well as more kid group rides.  Keep checking the events calendar for the most up to date information available.

And don’t forget the following recurring rides…

Thursday Ladies Ride

These rides are open to all abilities but ONLY ladies. Beginners are strongly encouraged to attend and experts are welcomed as well. If you are interested, please E-Mail brooke@prescottmtb.com and get signed up for the group.  This ride does change location on a weekly basis, so please get in touch to learn where the next ride will be taking place.  Come join us, have a great time and maybe even pick up a new skill or two while you are at it.

Thursday Advanced Ride

Generally for those cyclists with a more technical appetite.  Longer climbs, faster pace but friendly attitudes can be found here. Ride location rotates weekly, so please check for more information on the PMBA events calendar. If you are a skilled rider looking for others who understand passion occasionally requires a little pain… then this ride is for you.

The 8 to 80 Ride

Meets on Sundays. Designed to encourage riders young and old to get out and explore Prescott area trails in a non-competitive atmosphere.  All skill levels encouraged with an emphasis on new riders looking to learn from more veteran riders. Please check the website or calendar for more information including meeting times and locations.

The Wind Riders

Designed for the more mature rider who wants to ride with others but doesn’t want to set a new land speed records. A good group to ride with if you are looking to progress towards fitness goals and not necessarily focus purely race conditioning. Please check the website or calendar for more information including meeting times and locations.

Second Annual PMBA Potluck Ride

Another good ride with good food as well.  We had about 25 people there to ride. 15 or so were the "Wind Riders". They rode up 350 to 349 and then up to the whoops and back down to the picnic area. The other group of about 10 that did a similar route, but they made their way down to "The Slab". Dave, Lummer and Frank did their own ride using some alternate options. Pat hung out with his kids at the picnic area and cooked when everyone got back. All involved seemed to have a great time...especially gawking at Shu's "Mukluk" that Lummer borrowed for the ride.

Everyone enjoyed the food and stories that were being told after the ride. All had a good time in general. Good time, good food & great hanging out afterwards.

Thanks to Doug and Pat for the photos.

Looking forward to the event next year!!

PMBA Donation to Yavapai Food Bank

Board members Brad DeVries, Paul Katan, Brooke Weitkunat & Patrick Fraher stopped by the Yavapai Food Bank this afternoon & dropped off a $500 check to benefit the food bank.

All funds were raised from the raffle of Pivot Mach 5 frame during the Whiskey Off Road.

Special thanks to Pivot Cycles and all who participated in the raffle.

We encourage visitors to this website to donate what they can as well.  As the following pictures show, the shelves definitely have some space desperately needing to be filled.

PMBA is looking forward to future fundraising activities and working to help better the general community as well as the cycling community.

More Work on the Quartz Rock Trail

We had a good turn out on National Trails Day to continue the progress on Quartz Mountain trail. This piece of singletrack will bring the Circle Trail closer to completion and will also help tie together the T396 riding area with T48 and many of the trails around Thumb Butte and beyond.

PMBA would like to thank everyone for showing up.
