Pint Nite 2012

This years event was held again at the Raven. They were kind enough for us to take over their establishment for one night to help raise money for Prescott area trails and the new pump track.  With raffle prizes being given throughout the night and roller race “grudge” matches happening on the stage, it was high energy and a good time to be out with fellow mountain bike enthusiasts.  With brewskis’s a flowing, happy raffle winners walking away with great prizes and money raised to help continue PMBA’s mission to protect, preserve and promote safe mountain biking in the Prescott was a win win win.

PMBA would like to thank our sponsors for their donations for this years PMBA Pint Nite:

Pump Track Officially Approved!!

While it took a little longer than we originally planned, the Prescott Pump Track in Granite Creek Park is back on schedule, with the March 27th approval by the City Council of a construction agreement between PMBA and the City.

That means we're full speed ahead, with plans to have riders getting their pump on by the weekend of the Whiskey Off-Road. The current schedule calls for bringing in dirt for the site as soon as possible, so that Ryan Finney (who helped fellow pro-rider and pump track evangelist Mark Weir design and build his backyard extravaganza, along with other pump tracks around the country) can begin directing the big yellow machines around April 14.

Following that, we're going to need a whole host of volunteers with shovels, rakes and bicycles to shape, smooth, and then pack down the track so it's ready to rock by Whiskey Weekend. Keep an eye on this page as well as Facebook for details as construction plans come together.

Pump Track Update

Pump Track back On Track

It's taken a long winter of behind-the-scenes work, but things are moving again on the Granite Creek Park Pump Track - which means we're on track to build Prescott's first pump track in time for the Whiskey Off-Road at the end of April!

In a major development, City Manager Craig McConnell has placed the official pump track agreement between the City of Prescott and the Prescott Mountain Bike Alliance on the City Council agenda for Tuesday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. We believe things look good for the Council vote, but encourage you to communicate your support for the project to your Council members. We also hope you'll be able to attend the March 27 City Council Session to show your support!

If we are successful in clearing that hurdle, the real work begins in earnest. Using funds provided by a grant from Fox Suspension & IMBA, and a generous donation from local rider Dr. Eric Nelson, PMBA will be bringing in pump track designer Ryan Finney to oversee on-site design and construction. We'll be trucking in quite a few loads of dirt to build up the site and to construct the features. A little watering, a lot of riding, and Prescott will have a pump track that will be the envy of the entire Southwest.

PMBA owes a special thanks to Paul Roberts of Roberts and Carver, PLLC, who handled the legal work - on a pro bono basis - on PMBA's incorporation in the state of Arizona, which was required in order to conclude this agreement. Thank you, Paul!
