Tour de Franscott

Sometimes...(in my dreams)...I imagine that I could ride the Tour de France. Then I wake up, and wonder whether I could ride 1/2 of it. Or maybe 1/4. Or maybe 1/8.

Hmmm.

I wonder.

Join the Tour de Franscott.
Details on facebook.

What, exactly, is this "Tour de Franscott" thing, anyway?

It's a FREE Virtual race (strava recommended) , with daily rides mimicking the actual stages of the Tour de France, during the TdF (beginning 6/29., ending 7/21.)

This is for ALL cyclists...road AND mountain! The more the merrier (that's your cue to "share" and "like" this.)
...
You/me/we will attempt to ride 21 days out of 23 (or as many as possible). But....since none of us have the time (wink, wink) to ride the actual Tour de France distances, the daily Tour de Franscott rides will be assigned these proportions;

1/4 of TdF distances for road rides, 1/8 of TdF distances for mountain bikers.

For example,

On June 30, the TdF riders will ride 96 miles. You will ride a MINIMUM of 24 miles (road) or 12 miles (mountain) on June 30. There will often be "assignments" in area and/or altitude gain (for mountain stages). Some days you will be able to choose for yourself (out and back, or loop...no rides that are just downhill). Time trial days will be short distances, and are intendedto be group ride days (come watch your friends suffer).

We can do these as group rides, or solo...EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIVE IN PRESCOTT (I'm talking to you, OTB!), or when you're out of town (you DO take your bike, right?).

Do as many days as you can. Our team of CPA's will crunch the numbers, and our retained PR firm will help assign bragging rights.

(buzzkill alert) Remember...this ride is FREE, there is no money budgeted for lawsuits, so, you ride at your own risk, and assume all liability, and agree that you will not sue me over this totally elective and risky activity.

Meet at DES Office on Gurley St.

We will be constructing new trail to replace the old road section of TR 332 west of Thumb Butte Road. For those of you who were there last month, we are starting on the section on the other side of the road.

Meet at the DES office on Gurley St (old frys for the old timers).
We will carpool from there, go through the gate where TR 332 meets Thumb Butte Rd and park about 1/4 mile past the junction with TR 318.

Wear LONG PANTS, long sleeve shirt, gloves and sturdy shoes/boots and eye protection (sunglasses are fine). We will provide water, gatorade, snacks, tools and hard hats. We will work until 11:30 then head back to the DES Parking Lot.
